COLORIMETRIC TRIFLUOPERAZINE HCL ASSAY IN TABLETS AND INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER

ABSTRACT A sensitive, accurate, simple, and rapid colorimetric method for theassay of Trifluoperazine. in pure form, tablets and wastewater samples.The principle of this method is based on the oxidation ofTrifluoperazine by sodium hypochlorite in acetic acid medium to formred color product with a maximum absorption at 448 nm. Beer’s Lawwas obeyed in the range of 2-30 μg/ml with molar absorbitivity of 0.39×104 L.mol.-1.cm-1. Relative standard deviation of the method was lessthan 2% and accuracy (average recovery) was 100±1.2% .This methodsuccessfully done for assay of Trifluoperazine in tablets andwastewater samples.
