CONTRIBUTION OF MANUSCRIPT SUBODHINI IN ‘JWARNIDANA’

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Manuscript Subodhini is a concise commentary on Madhavnidana. Author had explained selective words from verses of Madhavnidana. Explanation is given on basis of grammar, examples or just elaboration of term. Aim: Study of Manuscript Subodhini teeka on Madhavnidana was the aim. Material and Methods: Manuscript was collected from Bhandarkar Oriental research institute, Pune. Original verse no. of „Jwaranidana’ adhyaya from Madhavnidana was found by comparing Subodhini and Madihavnidana. From the original verse no. commentary of Subodhini is studied. This gives idea about contribution of author. Observations: After studying the Manuscript some interesting observations are found. Discussion: Each word on which commentary is given in Subodhini is studied for its meaning. Conclusion: All the findings found from discussions and observations leads us to the conclusion about author and scriber, time period of Manuscript and possible contribution of Manuscript Subodhini in Study of Madhavanidana.
