ABSTRACT

According Samhitaâ€™s of Ayurved Rasashatra; Sthawar Visha (Animate poison) is classified as Visha and Upavisha. Names of Upavishas are mentioned in all Samhitas but its number varies according to each of them. However specific treatment of Upavishas is described in very few of the texts. According to modern science all these plants are identified and their specific treatment is also described. This paper aims towards studying treatment of Upavishas as described in Samhitas and Modern medical books.
