ABSTRACT

A safe and convenient process for the synthesis of Ethyl 4-(5-amino-1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl) butanoate (Bendamustine Intermediate) was developed, using platinum group metal-free and efficient reduction of nitro group with iron powder and ammonium chloride in biphasic medium.
