Abstract

FREE RADICAL SCAVANGING ACTIVITY OF LEAVES OF JASMINUM MULTIFLORUM

ABSTRACT

This study is done on leaves extract of Jasminum multiflorum.Extraction of leaves of Jasminum multiflorum yielded 5.16% of Pet.Ether extract,4.38% of Chloroform extract,and 18.28% of methanol extract.Methanol extract of Jasminum multiflorum leaves showed maximum antioxidant activity in comparison to all extracts using DPPH method.The concentration of 500 μg/ml of methanol extract showed 81.44% anti-oxidant activity in comparison to all extracts.Both Pet.Ether and Chloroform extracts showed weak antioxidant activity.Ascorbic acid was used as a standard for comparison to extracts which showed 97% activity.
