SYNTHESIS OF SOME AZETIDINONE, OXAZIPINE COMPOUNDS FROM BENZYLIDINE PHENYL HYDRAZINES

ABSTRACT

The present research work include the synthesis of some azetidine-2-one (A7 -12) from their precursor phenyl hydrazine and substituted benzaldehydes which gave the corresponding hydrazones (A1-6). These hydrazones were allowed to react with chloroacetylchloride in dry dioxane to gave the above azetidine -2-one. some 1,3-oxazipine compounds (A13-20) were synthesized from reaction of the corresponding hydrazones (A1-6) with maleic, succinic, itaconic and phthalic anhydrides in dry benzene . The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR spectroscopy and physical properties.
