REVIEW ON PHYTOCHEMISTRY AND PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVIES OF PORTULACA OLERACEA

ABSTRACT

This article mainly deals about the uses of Portulaca oleracea both therapeutically and for household purposes. Portulaca oleracea is an succulent annual plant belongs to the family Portulacaceae. The plant can be available in various species and the flowers of each species are very attractive indicates the active role of flavanoids. The folwers are available in different colors such as yellow, pink, red, orange etc.It contains various phytoconstituents such as luteol, luteoli, portulaconones A B C D. It is known to contain various pharmacological activities such as anticancer, ant diabetic, antiulcerogenic, antimigraine, antitussive etc. This article gives brief listed pharmacological activities of Portulaca oleracea.
