MANAGEMENT OF KATISHOOLA WITH VIRECHANA AND BASTI: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT Lower back pain is one of the most common painful condition which is experienced by all age groups. Ayurveda treatment of such conditions depends upon the acute or chronic causes, on which the physician decide whether emergency or conservative line of treatment is best. In Ayurveda, Trikgraha and Katigraha come under vaat vyadhis. For vaat vyadhis the common line of treatment mentioned in classics is snehana, swedana and shodhana. In this case patient comes with MRI report and complains of lower back ache from last six years, sometimes pain is radiated to lower limbs. Patient feels pain while walking too. He already considered allopathic treatment and ayurvedic oral medicines from local physician, but ultimately he was advised to undergo surgery by his orthopedics; which he didn’t prefer. So, he was treated with ayurvedic line of treatment and good symptomatic relief was recieved by him. The patient was devoted to the treatment and continued it for almost a month.
