CARBAMAZEPINE INDUCED STEVEN- JOHNSONS SYNDROME - A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT Stevens-Johnsons Syndrome (SJS) is a rare life- threatening disease of skin. SJS is a mucocutaneous disorder induced by an immune complex- mediated hypersensitivity reaction. Drugs are the most common cause that induces SJS which includes antiepileptic drugs, Antiretroviral drugs, Anti-TB drugs, Sulphonamide, Fluoroquinolones, penicillins and NSAIDS. In our study, an Antiepileptic drug (Carbamazepine) is the cause for SJS. Here we report a rare case on Carbamazepine induced Stevens- Johnsons Syndrome.
