SYNTHESIS AND SPECTRAL CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME TRISUBSTITUTED CYCLOHEXENONES

ABSTRACT

A series of azachalcones had been prepared (1-14) via Claisen –Schmidt Condensation of 2-acetyl pyridine with different substituted benzaldehydes. The prepared azachalcones were brought to react with ethyl acetoacetate in the presence of sodium hydroxide to afford the title compounds (15-27). The structures of the final products were supported by spectral data (UV, IR, 1HNMR) in addition to their physical properties.
