ABSTRACT
With a view to analyze, the histomorphological influence of dichlorvos (DDVP) 76% EC on the liver of Cyprinus carpio, a pilot experiment was carried out using different concentrations (2.5 and 4.5ppm) of the pesticides for ten and twenty days. Liver showed sphacelus, increase in the number of hepatic cells (hyperplasia), appearance of spaces between hepatic cords, Degranulation and vacuolization in hepatic cells; necrosis in the exocrine part of the pancreas. Our results clearly showed that liver is affected severely, which alters the structure of liver cells thereby reduces the fish’s nutritional value and at the same time,
the fish may be used as a bio- indicator for pesticide pollution.
Keywords: hyperplasia, sphacelus, degranulation, necrosis, vacuolization.
