These are structurally similar to liposomes, in that they are also made up of a bilayer. Niosomes, being non ionic, are less toxic and it improves the therapeutic index of drug by targeting its action to desired area in body. Niosomes are now widely studies as a alternative of liposomes. This review article focuses on the study of preparation method, characterization and application of niosomes. Keywords: Niosomes Phospholipid bilayer, vesicles, Non ionic surface active agent.
