Abstract

SYNTHESIS OF SOME NOVEL SUBSTITUTED 4-HYDROXY-1,8- NAPHTHYRIDINE-3-CARBONITRILE AND DERIVATIVES

ABSTRACT

A series of 4-hydroxy-1,8-naphthyridines-3-carbonitrile were obtained by the cyclisation of 2-amino pyridine derivatives with 2-cyano-3- ethoxy-acrylicacid ethylester at 160-180 0C in dowtherm-A, in 30-60 min. Which can be a viable alternative to the Friedlander condensation.

Keywords: 2-Cyano-3-ethoxy-acrylic acid ethyl ester, 2-Aminopyridines and Dowtherm-A.
