GC-MS ANALYSIS OF PYTOCHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS IN LEAF EXTRACT VITEX NEGUNDO [L.]

ABSTRACT

The present effort was intended to investigate Vitex negundo[L.] for the phytochemical constituents of plant using GC-MS. Fresh leaves of Vitex negundo[L.] were collected from Jabalpur (M.P) region in October 2015. The dried leaf powder was extracted with methanol and filtered. The concentrated extract was analyzed using GC and GC-MS analysis. A total of 74 compounds were detected, in which 11 compounds are reprensented. The GC-MS chromatogram showed the presence of 10 major peaks and the components corresponding to the peaks were determined.
