SODIUM BENZOATE AS AN EFFICINE AND ECO-FRIENDLY CATALYST FOR THE KNOEVENAGEL CONDENSATION REACTION

ABSTRACT

Sodium benzoate as an efficient and eco-friendly catalyst was employed for the first time for Knoevenagel condensation reactions between malononitrile and aromatic aldehydes. The protocol exhibits advantages like high catalytic efficiency, maximum yields and easy isolation of products.
