REVIEW ON PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES HYDROGEL FORMULATION
Prinsy Rana*, G. Ganarajan and Preeti Kothiyal
ABSTRACT
A hydrogel is a network of polymer chains that are hydrophilic, sometimes found as a colloidal gel in which water is the dispersion medium. Hydrogels are highly absorbent (they can contain over 90% water) natural or synthetic polymeric networks. Hydrogels also possess a degree of flexibility very similar to natural tissue, due to their significant water content. Literature on this subject was found to be expanding, especially in the scientific areas of research. The primary objective of this article is to review the literature concerning classification of hydrogels on different bases, physical and chemical characteristics of these products, methods of preparation and technical feasibility of their utilization.
Keywords: Hydrogels are highly absorbent (they can contain over 90% water) natural or synthetic polymeric networks.
