ABSTRACT
Ultrasonic measurements on samarium palmitate and stearate were made in a mixture of 70/30 benzene-dimethyl sulphoxide (V/V), in order to determine the critical miceller concentration (CMC), soap-solvent interaction and various acoustical and thermodynamic parameters. The values of critical micelle concentration increase with increasing temperature. The ultrasonic velocity, specific acoustic impedance, apparent molar compressibility, intermolecular free length, salvation number, molar sound velocity, available volume decrease with increasing soap concentration.
Keywords: Samarium palmitate, Samarium stearate, Critical micelle concentration, Soap-solvent interaction, Specific acoustic impedance.
