SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND IN VITRO BIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF SOME CHALCONE DERIVATIVES AS POTENTIAL ?-GLUCOSIDASE INHIBITORS
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ch Prasad,* and Prof. Y. Rajendra Prasad
ABSTRACT Chalcones are 1, 3-diaryl-2-propen-1-one are natural (or) synthetic flavonoids and physiologically active compounds. A new series of chalcones (3a-g) were synthesized by condensation of 3-acetyl-2,5-dimethylthiophene with various substituted aromatic and hetero aromatic aldehydes by Claisen-Schmidt condensation method. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H-NMR and elemental analysis. All these compounds were screened for their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity by UV-kinetic method. Some of these compounds showed significant inhibitory activity. Keywords: Chalcone, ?-Glucosidase inhibitory activity. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
