Abstract

EVALUATION OF ANTI-DIABETIC ACTIVITY OF ETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF DESMOSTACHYA BIPINNATA ON ALLOXAN INDUCED DIABETES IN RATS

ABSTRACT

The present study was carried out to evaluate the antidiabetic activity of ethanolic extract of Desmostachya bipinnata whole plant (EDB) in alloxan induced diabetic rat model in which the rats were treated with alloxan (150mg/kg, i.p). The study was carried out on a 14 day protocol and the parameters monitored were blood glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, ALP, creatinine, urea, uric acid, body weights and oral glucose tolerance were evaluated..
