GC-MS/MS ANALYSIS OF PHYTOCHEMICALS IN PARTHENIUM HYSTEROPHORUS L(N. AM), ANTIMICROBIAL ASSAY

ABSTRACT

Parthenium hysterophorus containing increased amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chlorophyll. The plant Parthenium hysterophorus offers energy source as it serves as a biomass. Considering its importance, this study was planned and ethanol extract of the plant was analysed for its phyto- constituents through GC-MS/MS. The results show, increased peak area for Propane, 1,1-diethoxy-, γ-Sitosterol, Stigmastan-3,5-diene, Benzamide, N-[2-(5-methoxy-2-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]-3-methyl-4-nitro. Among the bacteria, fungi tested, ethanol extract of Parthenium hysterophorus was found to be active against E.Coli, Aspergillus niger.
