DEVELOPMENT OF HPTLC METHOD FOR ESTIMATION OF VASICINE IN HERBAL FORMULATIONS AND QUALITY STANDARDIZATION IN ASFRE12

ABSTRACT Vasicine is one of the phytoconstituents present in Adhatoda vasica (L.)Nees (Family: Acanthaceae) have been used in Indian systems of Medicine for cough, bronchitis, bronchial asthma etc. In this present study an attempt has been made to develop a HPTLC method for quantitative estimation of Vasicine in different extracts (Alkaloid extract, Methanolic extract and 70% Methanolic extract) and in different samples of Asfre12[Laboratory sample (Alkaloid extract), Commercial sample (Alkaloid extract), Laboratory sample (70% Methanolic extract), and Commercial sample (70% Methanolic extract)]. In this the alkaloid extract of A.vasica sample and laboratory sample of alkaloid extract yielded more percentage of Vasicine.
