ABSTRACT Probiotics mean live microorganisms that have beneficial effects on their host’s health. Although probiotic strains can be isolated from many sources, isolation of probiotics from cow milk in the significant one because of their beneficial for effects on the health of neonates. The presence of beneficial lactic acid bacteria as found in human breast milk for considering cow milk as a source. In this study, isolation, identification and biochemical characterization and also probiotic properties of lactic acid bacteria, from cow milk were investigated. Three of the isolates were observed as potential probiotic. Two of them are Lactobacillus. These isolates showed resistance to stomach pH (pH 2, 3), tolerance against 0,2% bile concentration and antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Vibrio sps, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella sps. After investigation the probiotic properties of these isolates, were biochemically characterized and out of them found two probiotic were as Lactobacillus sps. In the light of this study, it is observed that, cow milk is a source of potential probiotic strains. Keywords: Cow milk, microorganisms, probiotics, antimicrobial activity.
