Abstract

AN AYURVEDIC GUIDE TO THE DAILY CLOCK

Dr. Meghana D. R.*, Dr. Pretty P.

ABSTRACT

If you look at a typical modern morning, it’s a masterclass in sensory overload. We jolt awake to digital alarms, immediately consume a flood of information from our screens, and rush out the door, which is physically fed, but energetically depleted. Thousands of years ago, Ayurvedic medicine proposed a radical alternative: Dinacharya(daily routine). This foundational framework for daily routine suggests that the very first choices we make upon waking don't just manage our time; they set the physiological and neurological tone for the entire day. The foundational principles outlined in Ayurveda texts, explains about how aligning daily actions with natural rhythms can effectively cut through the heavy, stagnant qualities of Kapha dosha that often manifest as morning lethargy. By contrasting modern habits with traditional practices including waking up in Brahma Muhurta, engaging in sensory cleansing, and grounding the nervous system through Abhyanga (body massage with medicated oil). These practices provides a roadmap for transforming chaotic mornings. Ultimately, it offers an accessible, scalable approach to integrate these ancient rituals, to build a sustainable foundation for lasting resilience, improved digestion, and balanced energy.

Keywords: Dinacharya, Kapha dosha, Brahma muhurtha, Abhyanga.
