Abstract

RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIAL OF PARPATADYARISHTA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF VATASHTHILA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA

Dr. Ganesh S. Jojare*

ABSTRACT

From n the study of ancient surgical text Sushrut Samhita, it becomes evident that the Urological problems form an important part of medical sciences. Acharya Vagbhata has classically divided the Roga of Mutra in to two categories viz. Mutra Atipravrittija and Mutra Apravrittaj Roga.[1] The disease Prameha comes under the first group where as Ashmari, Mutrakruchhra and Mutraghata fall under the second. The symptom complex of both the Mutrakrucchra and Mutraghata seems to be overlapping each other, but Acharya Dalhan, Acharya Chakrapani and Acharya Vijayrakshita have demarcated the difference between them. From Madhav Nidan This difference is based on the intensity of ―Vibandha ―or ―Avarodha‖ which is more pronounced in Mutraghata. Hence, it may be considered that the Mutraghata is a condition inconsequence with some kind of obstructive uropathy.[2] In elderly males one of the most facing issues is Bladder Outlet Obstruction and the high probable reason is Prostate Growth, Which in Ayurvedic Literature resembles with sign and symptom of ‗Ashthila Vridhi‘ i.e. Vatahsthila.
