FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF MULTIVITAMIN TABLET BY USING DIRECT COMPRESSION METHOD

ABSTRACT Aim: The objective of present study was to formulate and evaluate the multivitamin tablets with different combination of vitamins. Material And Method: The excipient used in this study are mannitol, Dextrose anhydrous, Polyethylene glycol 6000, PVP, MCC, Cross carmellose sodium for the effective formulation. As it is multivitamin, thiamine HCL, riboflavin, niacinamide, pyridoxine HCL, folic acid, cyanocobalamin, ascorbic acid are used and evaluated for precompression parameter. The formulated tablet was evaluated for post compression parameter. The tablet was evaluated for weight variation, hardness, thickness, friability, drug content. Their dissolution properties were assessed using USP (paddle apparatus). Results and Discussion: The results of all evaluation parameters of multivitamin tablet were within the acceptable limit. Pre-compression studies of nutraceutical tablet show satisfactory results. The thickness, hardness, weight variation, and friability of nutraceutical tablet were found to in acceptable range. Conclusion: From the above study, we conclude that the chewable tablets were prepared by direct compression method and gave the satisfactory and acceptable result. Formulation F3 was selected as the best formulation based on disintegration time and in-vitro dissolution studies.
