FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF POLY HERBAL TOOTHPASTE

ABSTRACT The herbal toothpaste formulated using leaves extract of commonly available medicinal plant. In this present work Mangifera indica & Psidium guajava leaves extract posses anti bacterial properties was used. Calcium carbonate was used as abrasive agent. Five batches were prepared by varying concentration of Mangifera indica & Psidium and evaluated for antibacterial activity against staphylococcus aureus and Escheria coli with 100 mg and 250 mg concentration of toothpaste respectively. The significant ZOI has seen against staphylococcus aureus (19±0.2) and Escheria coli (18±0.2). The formulated Herbal toothpaste were evaluated using different standard parameter to ensure their quality and physiochemical properties like, Organoleptic characterization, Composition, Homogeneity, pH, Spread ability, Extrudability, Determination of sharp and edge abrasive particles, Foamingpower, Determination of fineness, Tube inertness. The result indicates that the formulated polyherbal tooth paste had colour-Greenish brown, smooth in nature, moderate foamability pH-7.5 which is suitable for oral health, extrudability-80.55%, Spreadability good, absence of Hard and sharp edge abrasive particle.
