MACROSCOPIC EVALUATION OF THE IDENTITY OF VIDANGA, ITS ADULTERANTS AND MARKET SAMPLES

ABSTRACT Plant occurs wild in Assam, Meghalaya and other provinces in North-East region of country. A large scandent shrub, branches long slender, terete, with long internodes, the bark studded with lenticels. Leaves coriaceous, fruit berries (globose) 3-4 mm diameter, smooth, succulent, wrinkled when dry, black. Organoleptic Study of the three samples (genuine and substitutes/adulterants) were carried out in this study. The market samples are also thoroughly examined in this study.
