FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF FAST DISSOLVING TABLETS OF PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE USING SUPERDISINTEGRANTS
Priyanka Raj G., Mohan Kumar K. S.*, Parthiban S.
ABSTRACT The present study was aimed at formulating and evaluating Fast Dissolving Tablets (FDTs) of Perindopril Erbumine by direct compression method using different superdisintegrants. Perindopril Erbumine is an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor used in the treatment of hypertension. The prepared formulations were evaluated for pre-compression parameters such as angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, Carr's index, and Hausner's ratio. Post-compression evaluation included hardness, friability, weight variation, wetting time, disintegration time, drug content, and in-vitro drug release studies. The results showed satisfactory flow properties and tablet characteristics for all formulations. Among the prepared formulations, F9 exhibited the shortest disintegration time, lowest wetting time, highest drug content, and maximum cumulative drug release. Stability studies confirmed the stability of the optimized formulation. The study concluded that Perindopril Erbumine fast dissolving tablets prepared by direct compression provide rapid drug release and improved patient compliance for effective management of hypertension.
