SUCCESSFUL GLYCEMIC CONTROL WITH MICON GOLD FACILITATING GRADUAL TAPERING OF ORAL HYPOGLYCEMIC AGENT - A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT Madhumeha is described under Prameha in Ayurveda and resembles Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Long-term hyperglycemia leads to microvascular and macrovascular complications. Ayurvedic formulations such as Vasant Kusumakar Rasa have been traditionally used in the management of Madhumeha owing to their Rasayana, Balya, and Pramehahara properties. Objective: To evaluate the add-on effect of MICON GOLD in the management of Madhumeha Case Presentation: A 58-year-old male patient presented with polyuria, polydipsia, fatigue, increased appetite, and elevated blood glucose levels. The patient was known case of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus was on regular medication Glemipride 2mg + Metformin 500 mg /day since 1 year. patient came to our hospital and was further managed with micon gold for 12 weeks along Glemipride 1mg + Metformin 500 mg/ day (reduced dose of previous OHA)further tapered to Glemipride 0.5 mg + Metformin 500 mg/ day along with dietary modifications and lifestyle advice. Results: Significant improvement was observed in subjective symptoms and objective parameters including fasting blood sugar (FBS), postprandial blood sugar (PPBS), and HbA1c.
