ABSTRACT The present study was aimed to design and evaluate a herbal lip balm using natural ingredients such as Triticum aestivum (wheat) peel and Punica granatum (pomegranate) peel. Herbal formulations are gaining increasing importance due to their safety, effectiveness, and eco-friendly nature compared to conventional synthetic products. In this study, three different formulations (F1, F2, and F3) were prepared using varying concentrations of the active ingredients and evaluated for their physicochemical and performance characteristics. All the prepared formulations were examined for parameters such as colour, odour, texture, and state, and were found to be acceptable, indicating uniformity and stability of the products. Spreadability testing demonstrated smooth, even application, and melting/softening point determination confirmed adequate firmness for practical use. The pH of all formulations wasfound to be within a skin-friendly range, indicating their suitability for topical application without causing irritation. Skin irritation studies confirmed that the formulations were safe and non-irritant. Furthermore, homogeneity evaluation showed uniform dispersion of the extracts without undesirable gritty residues. Among all formulations, F2 was identified as the optimised formulation based on its superior overall performance. The study concludes that herbal lip balm formulated with Triticum aestivum peel and Punica granatum offers a promising, safe, and eco-friendly alternative to conventional lip-care products.
