NUTRITIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC SIGNIFICANCE OF KUDHANYA I.E, MILLETS

ABSTRACT Millets, traditionally classified under Kshudra Dhanya Varga in Ayurveda, have been cultivated in India since ancient times. They are recognised for their nutritional and therapeutic effects. They possess distinct properties such as Ruksha(dry), Laghu(light), predominant in Kashaya and Madhura Rasa. This review aims to analyse various millets of India according to Ayurvedic perspective, including their Rasa, Guna, Virya, Vipaka and their effects on Dosha.
