ABSTRACT In ancient times, active chemicals originating from plants have been used to cure a variety of illnesses.[1] Aromatic and medicinal plants have been used extensively in daily living throughout history. Approximately 80% of the population in both developing and undeveloped countries are thought to have their main healthcare requirements met by traditional plant-based medications or alternative therapies. Approximately 65% of individuals depend on these therapies, even in developed nations.[2][3] Crude plant extracts that include a complex mixture of bioactive and non-bioactive chemicals are frequently used in traditional medical formulations, such as those found in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
