PHARMACOGENOMICS AND PERSONALIZED MEDICINE IN MODERN THERAPEUTICS
Dr. Pasham Uma*, Guguloth Pavan Kalyan, Jatavath Srilatha, Cheruku Sowmya, Gujjula Varsha, Guntala Bhavana
ABSTRACT The study of how individual responses to drugs are influenced by genetic variations, or pharmacogenomics, has become a crucial part of precision treatments and personalized medicine. Conventional therapy approaches frequently depend on conventional treatment plans, which may cause diverse patients to experience adverse medication reactions, therapeutic failure, or varying efficacy. Pharmacogenomics makes it possible to identify genetic factors that affect drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and pharmacodynamic responses by incorporating genomic data into clinical decision-making. This allows for customized drug selection and dose optimization. This study offers a thorough summary of the fundamentals, uses, difficulties, and potential applications of pharmacogenomics in contemporary medicine. Treatment outcomes in a variety of therapeutic domains, including oncology, cardiovascular diseases, psychiatry, infectiousdiseases, and pain management, are examined in relation to genetic polymorphisms in clinically significant genes, including drug-metabolizing enzymes, transporters, and therapeutic targets. The review also looks at the clinical and financial advantages of pharmacogenomic-guided therapy, such as better treatment outcomes, less adverse drug responses, more patient safety, and more affordable healthcare delivery. All things considered, pharmacogenomics offers a revolutionary approach to healthcare by making it possible to administer the appropriate medication at the appropriate dosage to the appropriate patient at the appropriate time. It is anticipated that ongoing developments in genetic technology, bioinformatics, and clinical implementation techniques will hasten the incorporation of pharmacogenomics into standard medical practice, ultimately enhancing therapeutic results and influencing the direction of personalized medicine.
