ABSTRACT

Halitosis commonly known as bad breath is a prevalent oral health issue primarily stemming from microbial activity within the oral cavity inadequate oral hygiene and the formation of volatile sulphur compounds. In recent years Herbal medicines have gained significant attention due to their natural origins, inherent safety and minimum side effects. This study focuses on development and evaluation of Herbal lozenges designed for the management of Halitosis. Herbal ingredients such as Peppermint extract, Liquorice extract were carefully selected based on their established antimicrobial and breathe freshning properties. The lozenges were prepared using appropriate excipients including sucrose glucose syrup and flavouring agents, through heating and molding process. The resultant herbal lozenges understand comprehensive evolution for various parameters including weight variation, Hardness, Fraibility, Disintegration time, Organoleptic property and antimicrobial activity against common oral microorganisms. The findings indicate that the prepared herbal lozenges exhibitacceptable physical characteristics and demonstrated promising Antibacterial activity. Which could contribute to reducing the microbial load responsible for Halitosis. Consequently herbal lozenges represents a safe, effective and patient friendly dosage form for enhancing oral hygiene and controlling bad breath.
