FORMULATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF CHLORZOXAZONE ORODISPERSIBLE FILM
*Priya Roy, Dr. Arun Patel, Shailendra Patel
ABSTRACT The present study was aimed at formulation and characterization of Chlorzoxazone orodispersible films using solvent casting technique for rapid drug release and improved patient compliance. Orodispersible films were prepared using Xanthan gum, Gelatin, Gum acacia, and Cross carmellose sodium as film forming and super disintegrating agents. Chlorzoxazone is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant used for painful musculoskeletal conditions. The prepared films were evaluated for thickness, weight variation, folding endurance, surface pH, percentage moisture content, drug content, disintegration time, and in-vitro drug release. Drug-excipient compatibility studies were performed using DSC and FTIR analysis. The optimized formulation F6 showed excellent flexibility, acceptable surface pH, rapid disintegration, and maximum drug release of 98.85±0.25% within 360 seconds.Stability studies confirmed stability of the optimized formulation under accelerated conditions. The results demonstrated that Chlorzoxazone orodispersible films could be a promising alternative to conventional oral dosage forms with improved patient compliance and rapid therapeutic effect.
