EFFECT OF GARBHSANSKAR ACTIVITIES ON MATERNAL AND NEONATAL OUTCOMES: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY
Dr. Vrundan Jayswal*
ABSTRACT Garbhsanskar is an ancient Ayurvedic prenatal care system that integrates lifestyle practices such as meditation, yoga, sattvic diet, chanting, and positive thinking to promote the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of both mother and fetus. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the effect of Garbhsanskar activities on maternal and neonatal outcomes among 255 pregnant women enrolled in the Tapovan Garbhsanskar program. Data were analyzed for delivery mode, neonatal health, birth weight, gestational age, and gender. The results revealed that 54% of mothers had normal vaginal deliveries, and a majority of neonates (91.8%) exhibited good to excellent health status. Furthermore, most newborns had a birth weight above 2.5 kg, and preterm births were rare. These findings suggest that consistent participation in Garbhsanskar practices may be associated with improved pregnancy outcomes, reinforcing the relevance of integrating traditional prenatal care approaches with contemporary maternal health strategies.
