K. Sechana*, Panja Swetha, Jangam Deepika, Saggurthi Mounika, Madupathi Shivashankar, Kududula Shradha
ABSTRACT Background: Tinea corporis is a common dermatophytic infection affecting the skin, causing significant discomfort and morbidity. Topical antifungal agents like clotrimazole and sertaconazole are widely used for treatment of tinea corporis. Clotrimazole is a well-known topical antifungal medication that has been effective in treating tinea corporis, a common skin infection. Sertaconazole is a newer antifungal cream that claims to be more effective than older options like clotrimazole for this condition. The purpose of this review was to understand the effectiveness, safety, and cost of using clotrimazole 1% cream and sertaconazole 2% cream in patients with mild to moderate tinea corporis. Conclusion: Topical clotrimazole 1% cream and sertaconazole 2% cream were effective and easy for patients to tolerate when treating tinea corporis. Sertaconazole showed faster and better results with mild side effects. However, clotrimazole is a more affordable option. In conclusion, sertaconazole is a strong choice for treating tinea corporis, especially for those looking for quicker relief.
