ABSTRACT

The present study was aimed to design and evaluate herbal bathing balls using natural ingredients such as butterfly pea flower and carrot powder. Herbal formulations are gaining increasing importance due to their safety, effectiveness, and eco-friendly nature compared to conventional synthetic products. In this study, three different formulations (F1, F2, and F3) were prepared using varying concentrations of the active ingredients and evaluated for their physicochemical and performance characteristics. All the prepared formulations were examined for parameters such as color, odor, texture, shape, and state, and were found to be acceptable, indicating uniformity and stability of the products. The effervescence study demonstrated rapid and satisfactory effervescent action, ensuring proper dispersion of the formulation in water. Dissolution studies revealed that the formulations dissolved efficiently, with F3 showing the fastest dissolution rate. The pH of all formulations was found to be within a skin-friendly range, indicating their suitability for topical application without causing irritation. Skin irritation studies confirmed that the formulations were safe and non-irritant. Furthermore, foaming studies indicated good foamability, enhancing the cleansing action and overall user acceptability of the product. Clarity evaluation showed uniform dispersion without undesirable residues. Among all formulations, F3 was identified as the optimized formulation based on its superior performance. The study concludes that herbal bathing balls formulated with butterfly pea flower and carrot powder offers a promising, safe, and eco-friendly alternative to conventional bathing products.
