ABSTRACT

This research project aims to study the prevalence, causes, and impact of Diabetes Mellitus among the rural population. The report was written to understand how diabetes affects people living in rural areas, where lack of awareness, limited healthcare facilities, and delayed diagnosis often make the condition worse. The study was undertaken by reviewing available literature, observing common lifestyle patterns, and analysing factors such as diet, physical activity, family history, and access to medical care in rural communities. The main findings show that diabetes is increasing steadily in rural areas due to changing food habits, reduced physical activity, and limited knowledge about early symptoms. Many individuals remain undiagnosed until complications appear. The significance of these findings lies in highlighting the urgent need for awareness programs, early screening, proper treatment, and lifestyle modification to reduce the burden of diabetes in rural populations. This research also stresses the importance of strengthening rural healthcare services to ensure timely diagnosis and better management of the disease.
