TO FORMULATE A HERBAL HAIR SMOOTHING/STRAIGHTENING CREAM USING NATURAL INGREDIENTS AND EVALUATE ITS EFFECTIVENESS ON HAIR TEXTURE

ABSTRACT

Herbal cosmetics are gaining increasing popularity due to their safety, effectiveness, and minimal side effects compared to synthetic products. The present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a herbal hair smoothing/straightening cream using natural ingredients such as aloe vera, coconut oil, flaxseed gel, and other plant-based extracts known for their conditioning and nourishing properties. The formulation was prepared using suitable excipients to obtain a stable and smooth cream. The prepared cream was evaluated for various physicochemical parameters including pH, viscosity, spreadability, homogeneity, and stability under different storage conditions. Additionally, its effectiveness was assessed by applying it to hair samples to observe improvements in smoothness, softness, shine, and manageability. The results indicated that the herbal formulation showed significant improvement in hair texture without causing any irritation or damage. The absence of harmful chemicals makes it a safer alternative to conventional hair straightening products. Thus, the developed herbal hair smoothing cream can be considered an effective and eco-friendly option for hair care.
