FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF NATURAL NUTRACEUTICAL LOZENGES FOR IMMUNE SUPPORT AND NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION

ABSTRACT

Natural nutraceuticals have been found to be potential preventive medicines in health care owing to their safety, effectiveness, and multifunctional therapeutic effects. In the current study, the focus was on designing Natural nutraceutical lozenges containing plant products with important nutritional and medicinal values. This formulation was made using orange powder, green pea powder, almond powder, nori powder, pumpkin seed powder, grape powder, turmeric extract, grape seed extract, walnut powder, barley powder, peanut powder, and amla powder. Some excipients like stevia, liquid glucose, and citric acid were used in order to make the formulation more palatable and stable. Evaluation was done through several parameters including physicochemical parameters like hardness, weight variation, and friability; organoleptic tests involving taste, color, and texture; nutritional profile analysis, and antioxidant value. It was seen that the lozenges formed had reasonable physical qualities and acceptable appearance.Nutritional analysis revealed the presence of important macronutrients and micronutrients like protein, good fats, vitamins (especially vitamin C), and minerals such as zinc and iodine.In addition, the formulation demonstrated strong antioxidant properties due to the presence of polyphenols, flavonoids, and curcumin derived from the extracts of grapes, amla fruit, and turmeric. The use of these active ingredients together not only helps in strengthening the immune system but also alleviates oxidative stress and improves general well-being. In summary, the Natural nutraceutical lozenges that have been formulated can be considered an effective method of delivering functional nutrition and bioactive ingredients.
