ABSTRACT

The claims of natural whitening, detoxification, stain removal, and antibacterial action have made activated charcoal toothpaste a popular oral care product across the globe. The market demand for herbal and natural products has increased due to social media promotion and consumer preference. The scientific data that backs up these assertions is still debatable, though. The composition, mechanism of action, whitening effectiveness, abrasivity, fluoride content, antibacterial potential, safety issues, and regulatory features of activated charcoal toothpaste are all critically assessed in this paper. To compare marketing claims with scientific data, available in vitro and clinical research are examined. Due to its abrasive qualities, charcoal toothpaste may remove some extrinsic stains, but there isn't enough high-quality clinical evidence to supportsafety. here are still serious worries about fluoride defic it, dentin hypersensitivity, and enamel abrasion. Prove safety and efficacy, more randomized controlled clinical trials are needed.

Keywords: Activated charcoal, toothpaste, whitening, abrasivity, enamel, fluoride, oral health.
