SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE ON “CONCEPT OF OSTEOPOROSIS ACCORDING TO AYURVEDIC PRINCIPLES AND THE EFFECT OF PANCHAPRASRUTIKABASTI IN POST-MENOPAUSAL AGE”
Dr. Chandrakala*, Dr. A. S. Prashanth
ABSTRACT Osteoporosis is a progressive metabolic bone disorder characterized by decreased bone mass and deterioration of bone microarchitecture, leading to increased fracture risk. It commonly occurs in post-menopausal women due to estrogen deficiency. In Ayurveda, osteoporosis can be correlated with AsthiKshaya and Asthi-MajjaDhatuKshaya, predominantly caused by aggravated VataDosha. PanchaprasrutikaBasti, a classical Ayurvedic therapeutic enema formulation, is considered beneficial in Vata disorders and degenerative conditions affecting bones and joints. This article reviews the Ayurvedic concept of osteoporosis and explores the potential role of PanchaprasrutikaBasti in the management of osteoporosis in Post-Menopausal women. Keywords: Osteoporosis, Asthi Kshaya, Panchaprasrutika Basti, Ayurveda, Post-menopausal women, Vata Dosha. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
