ABSTRACT A species of tree belonging to the mulberry family Moraceae, Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam. is also referred to as jackfruit. Morin, dihydromorin, cynomacurin, artocarpin, isoartocarpin, cycloartocarpin, cycloheterophyllin, artocarpesin, oxydihydroartocarpesin, artocarpetin, norartocarpetin, cycloartinone, betulinic acid, artocarpanone and heterophylol are among the compounds found in Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam that are beneficial for fever, boils, epileptic seizures, digestive problems, corneal illnesses, and snake bites. Fever, ulcers, boils, wounds, skin conditions, diarrhea treatment, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, anticonvulsant, anticancer, aphrodisiac, anti-asthmatic, antibiofilm, antiviral, hematinic, antimalarial, anti-hypertension, anti-scavenging, cardioprotective, rheumatoid arthritis, tyrosinase inhibitors. The morphological, anatomical, physicochemical, and powderyfeatures of Artocarpus heterophyllus were assessed in this investigation. To determine the drug's safety, effectiveness, and applications in therapy, additional clinical and mechanistic research is necessary despite its encouraging pharmacological profile. This review offers a sound scientific foundation for further investigation and advancement of Artocarpus heterophyllus as a possible source of new medicinal compounds. Keywords: Artocarpus heterophyllus, Moraceae, Phytochemistry, Pharmacological activities. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
