PHARMACOLOGICAL POTENTIAL OF TAGETES ERECTA: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT Herbal medicines and plants that have medicinal properties are nowadays highly used and very important in the healthcare system. Tagetes erecta is one of the important plants that have medicinal properties. Tagetes erecta is commonly known as African marigold and in Marathi as jhenduful. various regions of India there are different names for this plant. This paper discussed the medicinal properties and uses of Tagetes erecta. Various chemical constituents are present in various parts of the plant. The presence of these chemical constituents is responsible for so much work done on this plant. Various pharmacological activities are reported of this plant such as, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, antidepressant, and antiepileptic-like major activities. In this paper all information related to the Tagetes erecta plant will be helpful for the researcher to do their study based upon this plant.
