Shalaka Sunil Kunjir*, S.K. Budhavale, S.R. Borate, Dr. R.V. Shete, Vishal Shivaji Kindre
ABSTRACT The widely grown tropical plant Musa paradisiaca Linn., a member of the Musaceae family, is prized for its many therapeutic uses in traditional medical systems in addition to being a staple meal. Diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, inflammation, infections, wounds, and neurological diseases have all historically been treated with a variety of plant parts, including the fruit, peel, flower, stem and leaves. These traditional claims have been substantially supported by recent scientific findings. Musa paradisiaca is abundant in bioactive components, including flavonoids, phenolic compounds, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, glycosides, terpenoids, phytosterols, and carotenoids, according to phytochemical investigations. It is well known that these substances have strong cytoprotective and antioxidant qualities. Numerous biological actions, such as antioxidant, antidiabetic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, wound-healing, hepatoprotective, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, and antidepressant effects, are shown by pharmacological research employing in vitro and in vivo models. Numerous activities are linked to the regulation of inflammatory pathways, oxidative stress, and enzyme inhibition.
