ABSTRACT

This investigation reports the formulation and evaluation of an herbal microencapsulated cream containing grape seed oil extract, a potent natural antioxidant widely used in skincare applications. Microencapsulation was achieved using a high-energy emulsification technique, with four formulations prepared at varying grape seed oil concentrations (3–4%). Characterization studies showed spherical, smooth microcapsules with particle sizes increasing proportionally to oil concentration, as confirmed by SEM analysis. The optimized microencapsulation (F3) was incorporated into a cream base and evaluated at different concentrations for physicochemical properties, antioxidant activity, and stability. All formulations demonstrated suitable pH and acceptable topical characteristics, while formulation F4 exhibited optimal viscosity, spreadability, and the highest in-vitro antioxidant activity. Stability studies confirmed good physical stability overtwo months. Overall, the findings highlight the potential of microencapsulated grape seed oil as a stable, effective antioxidant system for advanced cosmeceutical and therapeutic skincare formulations.
