NAVASADARADI YOGA KASHAYA ITS MODIFICATION INTO NEBULISATION, ITS PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING AND ANTIMICROBIAL STUDY IN ACUTE CONDITIONS OF SHWASA
Dr. Sariya Ambar D.*, Dr. Seema M. B., Dr. Surekha S. Medikeri
ABSTRACT Nebulization has emerged as a pivotal advancement in the management of acute respiratory conditions like bronchial asthma, offering rapid and efficient drug delivery through the lungs due to their vast absorptive surface. While modern inhalation therapies have proven life saving, especially in critical conditions such as status asthmaticus, their long term use is often limited by adver se side effects. In response, traditional Ayurvedic formulations like Navasadaradi Yoga Kashaya , originally a decoction used for Shwasa (asthma), have been explored for modification into inhalation dosage forms. This transformation harnesses the water solu ble phytoconstituents of herbs such as Navasadara , Vacha , Yashtimadhu , and Kantakari , offering a potentially safer and effective alternative for asthma management. The adaptation of such classical formulations into nebulized forms represents a promising in tegrative approach to address the growing global burden of asthma in the wake of urbanization, pollution, and lifestyle changes. Results: Navasadaradi yoga Kashya was prepared analysed and Kashayawas modified into nebulisation.
