PHARMACEUTICO-ANALYTICAL STUDY OF JATIPATRADI CHURNA AND ITS MODIFIED FORM OF TOOTHPASTE

ABSTRACT The disease Krimidanta is described under Danta roga. InAyurvedic classics several treatment modalities with differentdosage forms like Pratisarana, Gandoosha and Kavala havebeen mentioned for the management of Krimidanta. Dentalcaries one of the most common preventable diseases, refers tothe localised destruction of susceptible dental hard tissues, itcauses symptoms like toothache, tooth sensitivity, abscess,holes in the teeth, and pain while eating or drinking. In thepresent era, the use of churna (herbal powder) for brushing isless preferred due to convenience and patient complianceissues. To address this, Jatipatradi Churna, mentioned inYogaratnakara under Dantaroga Chikitsadhaya which ishaving Krimighna and Kandughna property and traditionallyused in the management of Mukha roga and Danta Roga, hasbeen modified into a toothpaste by using suitable excipients.The Phytochemical and instrumental analysis shows thepresence of phenols and phytosterols which has analgesic,antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
