Dr. Moirangthem Kavita Devi*, Dr. Laishram Decov Meitei

ABSTRACT

Trace elements are chemical micro nutrients which are required rather in minute quantity but play a vital role in maintaining integrity of various physiological and metabolic processes occurring within living tissues. Human body requires certain essential elements in few quantities. The trace elements in the medicinal plants lead important roles in the treatment of diseases. Plants and plant derive products are part of health care since human civilization. The deficiency or excess of trace elements leads to various complications and metabolic disorders in human beings. In the present study, the trace elements in certain Clerodendrum species were analyzed by using Energy Dispersive x-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) Technique. Trace elements have essential roles in human health and some of trace elements are acting as enzymes. These are significant actions throughout biological process. They are very important in many different ways including keeping our bones, muscles, heart and brain working properly.Minerals are also essential for making enzymes and hormones.
